FAQs about Les Gets ski holidays Your questions answered by our Les Gets ski resort expert
How is the skiing in Les Gets?
Skiing in Les Gets ski resort is excellent. Offering a mix of open sunny plateaus and beautiful tree-lined runs for beginners and intermediates, alongside the enormous Portes du Soleil ski area for more advanced, it’s got the makings of a fantastic ski holiday for mixed-ability groups and families seeking fantastic variety.
When’s the best time to book a Les Gets ski holiday?
January and February. The season runs from mid-December to mid-April, but it’s worth bearing in mind that Les Gets is not as high as some other resorts, so choosing a time when the snow is at its best typically means booking mid-season.
However, there are always exceptions, and Les Gets sits in a “snow pocket” between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, which means snow totals here can be excellent for spring skiing in March as well.
If you’re considering Christmas and New Year, Les Gets also makes for a fantastic family ski holiday.
What are the snow conditions like in Les Gets ski resort?
Generally great. Les Gets sits in a “snow pocket” between the lofty Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, meaning it receives a lot more snow than some other higher altitude ski resorts.
What’s more, if things ever do get a tad lean, the extensive snow-making facilities and grass-based slopes (which need less snow to be skiable) dotted around the resort help keep snow totals reliable from December to April.
Is Les Gets good for a beginner ski holiday?
Yes. Les Gets offers some of the best beginner skiing in France. First-timers can book their ski lessons and then practice their snowploughs and turns at the "Mappys" area at the top of the Chavannes gondola. This dedicated set of four beginner slopes comes with two magic carpets, a snow cable and a rope tow, and is only €19 to access.

When it comes to off-slope activities, hotels and restaurants here are family-friendly, as are activities such as swimming, bowling, sledging, and more.

Are Les Gets ski holidays good for advanced skiers?
Yes, very. Les Gets offers more advanced skiers and snowboarders access to the enormous 600km Portes du Soleil ski area, including Mont Chéry sector’s challenging reds, blacks, and steep mogul fields, the "Swiss Wall", and the high-altitude freeride terrain in nearby Avoriaz.
Is Les Gets ski resort good for snowboard holidays?
Yes. Les Gets’ large variety of slopes is largely snowboarder-friendly, with fewer flat sections and drag lifts than other neighbouring resorts and the addition of a permanent boardercross course and snowpark at Mont Chéry.
Are Les Gets ski weekends and short breaks worth the trip?
Yes, Les Gets is ideal for ski weekends and short ski breaks. Just over one hour from Geneva airport, Les Gets is one of the easiest ski resorts to access in the Alps, and with a wealth of skiing available both in the resort and across the Portes du Soleil ski area, there’s plenty to keep you busy, whether it’s for two days or two weeks.

Are Les Gets ski holidays ski-in/ski-out?
Yes, Les Gets offers a fantastic selection of ski-in/ski-out accommodation. It’s among the many reasons why it’s great for family ski holidays.
Many of the hotels and chalets are situated on the blue runs that lead back into the village centre, making them very suitable for beginners and young kids.
Is Les Gets linked to any other ski resorts?
Yes, Les Gets is fully connected with Morzine ski resort. Together, they create a 120km local skiing area filled with sun traps and forest-lined runs.
For beginners and intermediates, it must be Piste 64. This long, scenic 922m green run features great turns and impressive scenery - and in 1964, it was the only piste kept open during a lack of snow at the resort thanks to locals bringing snow to the slopes in bins and barrows.
For more advanced skiers and snowboarders, the Yeti run is a well-groomed, dynamic red course, offering open turns and a gentle roller midway down, while the Chamois black run is steep, demanding, and one of Les Gets’ most thrilling descents.
