FAQs about Cervinia ski holidays Your questions answered by our Cervinia ski resort expert
What is Cervinia skiing like?
Cervinia skiing is excellent. Famed for its long, side “motorway” style pistes, Cervinia ski holidays are fantastic for intermediate cruisers and beginners, with the addition of some fine, peachy freeride powder over the border in Switzerland’s Zermatt.
Overall, given the scale of the terrain on offer and its connections to Zermatt, it's no wonder Cervinia has been designated a world-class ski destination.
Are Cervinia ski holidays snow-sure?
Yes, generally. Cervinia ski holidays are some of the most snow-sure in Europe, mainly due to the resort’s high altitudes, glacier access, and proximity to the Matterhorn. Because of this, the ski season here is exceptionally long, running from late October through May.
When’s the best time to book a Cervinia ski holiday?
March and April are fantastic times to book a Cervinia ski holiday. Because of the resort’s high altitudes, it can be very cold and windy. Spring skiing in Cervinia offers warmer temperatures, better visibility, fewer crowds, and reliable snow cover.
For family ski trips to Cervinia, embrace the enchanting festive atmosphere at Christmas, with outdoor ice skating, twinkling fairy lights, and glowing market stalls.
Alternatively, book a trip during the February half-term to escape the crowds - the Italian schools don't break up at the same time as the UK, so it will be infinitely quieter on the slopes here than elsewhere in Europe!
Is Cervinia ski resort high altitude?
Yes. Cervinia is a high-altitude ski resort. The village itself sits at 2,050m, while the ski area reaches a lofty 3,900m at the peak of Gobba di Rollin. Because of this, it’s ski season in one of the longest in Europe, and it offers some of the highest pisted skiing in the Alps.
Is Cervinia a good choice for a beginner ski holiday?
Yes, Cervinia is excellent for beginner ski holidays. The Cretaz nursery slopes at the village provide a great starting point, with easy progression onto the Plan Maison ski area.
What sets beginner ski holidays in Cervinia apart from the competition, however, is its high-pisted blue runs, allowing novices to experience fantastic views and powder higher up the mountain.
